The story behind the name
And Then You
And then you said something funny. And then you tried something new. And then, somehow, you grew.
A story made of little things
Childhood isn’t just birthdays and first steps. It’s the name they give the moon, the way they greet the dog, the question that catches you off guard. The things you’re certain you’ll remember — until life moves on.
And Then You is a place to keep those moments, so they don’t have to rely on memory alone.
The book that never got filled in
Most of us have bought one: a memory book with a ribbon in it and prompts printed in the margins. You mean to fill it in. You even set an evening aside. Then the day goes, the page stays blank, and the blank page starts to feel like a small failure you keep walking past.
That isn’t a discipline problem. Remembering to do it, thinking of something worth writing, and finding the time to write it properly are three separate jobs — and family life doesn’t hand you the hours. As much as you love them, the book quietly becomes another thing on the list.
So we made it fit the way you already live
The idea is to catch a moment where you are, while it’s still fresh: in the car, in the queue, at six in the morning in the dark. Hold the record button and say what happened and we write it down for you, dated and kept with the recording. Typing works too, if you’d rather.
It doesn’t have to be good the first time. One sentence today is a complete entry, and you can come back next month and add the rest — the bit you forgot, the way it actually ended, the photo you didn’t have yet. The aim is a habit that runs on the move, not a session you have to clear the table for.
Remembered by everyone who loves them
Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents and trusted friends each notice something different, and no one of them should have to carry the remembering on their own. When everyone adds what they saw, a child gets more than one perspective on growing up — and the work is shared out.
Families choose who to invite. Admins see all family memories; contributors see the memories they add themselves.
They’re the reason for all of it
None of this is really about the app. They won’t read it at four. They’ll read it at fourteen, or be given it on a morning they won’t forget, and what they’ll find is a lot of people who noticed them — on ordinary days, at the time, in their own words.
Still growing, together
And Then You is in beta. We’re beginning with capturing memories, age-based questions and bringing entries together into keepsakes.
